Baby corn plays a significant role in ensuring livelihood security and augmenting income level of farmers in peri-urban areas. HM 4 possesses all the desirable traits of an ideal baby corn hybrid. Its cultivation is gaining momentum in nearby areas of cities.

In West Bengal, requirement of maize grain for poultry industry alone is about 2100 tonnes/day. The QPM hybrid HQPM-1 was evaluated across all agro-climatic zones, recording an average yield of 70.0 q/ha, and was rapidly adopted by farmers across the state.
