India’s livestock sector faces a persistent fodder shortage that affects dairy productivity and farmer incomes. To address this, ICAR–Indian Institute of Maize Research (IIMR), Ludhiana, is promoting maize-based silage as a sustainable, year-round feed solution. Through improved hybrids, scientific cultivation, mechanization, and farmer training, the initiative is boosting fodder availability, milk yield, rural entrepreneurship, and sustainable livestock production.
